The experience

About this tour

Our one-hour passenger boat tour will take us by the puffin islands Elliðaey and Bjarnaey. These islands are known for being puffin colonies and Elliðaey has also become worldwide known as the island with the loneliest house in the world.

As we sail by our only inhabited island Heimaey, you will be able to see the new lava that was released during the 1973 eruption of Vestmannaeyjar. A sea cave will also be visited on the trip where you will experience great acoustics and enjoy some music.

You will learn about the history of the islands, the volcanic eruption, and puffins and other wildlife that you will see while sailing from a local guide.

This tour runs at 1:00 pm from June to mid August.

Your ticket

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the departure in Vestmannaeyjar so that we can check you in and get you ready for the trip

Our office is at Tangagata 7, Vestmannaeyjar, Large white and yellow house beside the children's playground

We are situated at the harbor in Vestmannaeyjar only several steps away from where the ferry lands NOTE: you need to book your ticket to Vestmannaeyjar at www.herjolfur.is.

It is good to wear warm clothing as it can get cold out on the sea but we have seating both outside and inside the ship

NOTE that if we do not reach minimum of 15 persons we might need to cancel the trip but we might offer you to go to another trip if you want. Also if the weather conditions are not good. BUT we always try to reach you and let you know ahead of time if that is the case.
