    Summer Glacier Hike with Photos

    Airport Skaftafell, 785 Skaftafell

Capture the Magic of Iceland’s Glacial Beauty
Your Glacier Hike adventure begins at the Skaftafell Airport Terminal, located within Vatnajökull National Park. Please note that Skaftafell is approximately a 4.5-hour drive from Reykjavik, so we recommend staying overnight at a nearby accommodation to ensure you arrive on time.

A short trek through the rugged mountain landscape leads you to the glacier tongue, where the real excitement begins. Before stepping onto the ice, your guide will offer clear instructions on glacier hiking techniques, making sure the tour is accessible and safe for all participants.

The highlight of the experience is the breathtaking Falljökull glacier, fittingly named the "Falling Glacier" for its striking icefall formations. As you traverse the glacier, you’ll be surrounded by intricate crevasses, gleaming blue ice, and natural sculptures sculpted by the forces of nature.

Throughout the hike, your guide will share fascinating insights about the glacier’s history, its formation, and the ever-changing processes shaping this frozen wonderland. Feel free to engage and ask questions to deepen your understanding of this incredible environment.

As you venture across the glacier’s icy expanse, take your time to soak in the sweeping views. On clear days, you may even spot Hvannadalshnúkur, Iceland’s highest peak, rising majestically in the distance. The panoramic vistas from the glacier’s surface provide a truly unique perspective, offering a sensation of standing on top of the world.

Capture unforgettable moments with photos of the glacier’s vivid hues, intricate patterns, and the dramatic landscapes surrounding you. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a first-time explorer, the experience of walking on ancient ice is both thrilling and humbling.

The tour concludes back at Skaftafell Airport in Southeast Iceland, leaving you with memories of an extraordinary adventure through Iceland’s stunning glacial landscape.

What sets Ice Pic Journeys apart is our exclusive photo package service. As the only tour operator in Iceland offering professional photos with the smallest group sizes of any glacier tour, we ensure a personalized experience. Each guest will receive five professionally edited photographs delivered via Drive approximately 14 days after your hike.
