The Golden Circle isn’t just Iceland’s most famous sightseeing route—it’s a journey through history, geology, and raw natural power. Join us as we explore Þingvellir, Geysir, and Gullfoss with a local twist, led by our expert guide who knows all the hidden gems along the way.

Þingvellir National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Iceland’s democracy, Þingvellir is where Vikings gathered to lay the foundations of one of the world's oldest parliaments. But this place isn’t just about history—it’s where continents collide! Walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and witness the slow but powerful forces shaping Iceland’s dramatic landscape.

Geysir Geothermal Area

Meet the original geyser—Geysir—though these days, it’s mostly its energetic little sibling, Strokkur, putting on a show. Every few minutes, it launches a jet of scalding water high into the sky, a reminder that the earth beneath your feet is alive. The bubbling hot springs, rising steam, and that unmistakable scent of geothermal energy make this a truly otherworldly experience. Stay ready—Strokkur has a knack for catching people off guard!

Gullfoss Waterfall

Golden by name, golden by nature. Gullfoss is one of Iceland’s most breathtaking waterfalls, cascading down two tiers into a rugged canyon. Feel the sheer power of the falls from up close—or, if you prefer, from the warmth of the cozy café nearby with a hot drink in hand.

The Golden Circle is a classic—but with Midgard, it’s anything but ordinary.

Departure/Return location: You can choose pick-up and drop-off from Midgard Adventure in Hvolsvöllur (free), Hvolsvöllur & Hella area (free), Reykjavík, Keflavík airport and Selfoss area.

Departure time: 9:00 AM. 

Duration: 7-11 hours depending on pick-up location. 7-8 hours from Midgard Adventure, Hvolsvöllur. 10-11 hours from Reykjavík.

Lunch: Food is not included. We stop at a local restaurant, usually Friðheimar. For short notice bookings during summer, we can not guarantee a reservation at Friðheimar.

What to Wear

Please prepare your clothing according to the weather forecast. Consider the following list of clothing items:

  • Hiking Boots (ideally waterproof, Gore-Tex or equivalent)
  • Long-sleeve Thermal Shirt (wool or synthetic)
  • Light Wool/Fleece Sweater (second layer)
  • Quick-Drying Trousers (wind-resistant, water-repellent)
  • Waterproof Rain Jacket/Anorak with Hood (Gore-Tex or similar)
  • Waterproof Rain Trousers
  • Wool/Synthetic Liner Gloves
  • Wool/Synthetic Hat, Buff, or Cap
  • Sunglasses

Food and Refreshments

Minimum Number of Participants

The minimum participant count for each tour is specified in the tour description on our website. Should the minimum not be met, you'll be presented with two options: an alternative trip or a full refund.

Cancellation Policy

For all-day tours operated by Midgard Adventure:

  • Cancellations made more than 5 days before departure will be refunded, minus a 10% transaction and service fee.
  • Cancellations made less than 5 days before departure are non-refundable.
